PANAMA CITY BEACH — The Shrimp Boat Restaurant on Beck Avenue in historic Panama City is scheduled to open October 16 after 2½ years of construction. The restaurant is modeled architecturally after a 19th-century Cuban cigar factory, the Shrimp Boat also features two second-floor banquet rooms, Gracie Rea’s Bar and Grille on the building’s west end, and an adjacent St. Andrews Seafood Market with dockside and 12th Street entrances. The building’s third floor holds Lowe’s Lair, a two-bedroom penthouse suite which will be rented for special occasions.
The Smith Yacht Basin outside of the main building has 15 boat slips so boaters will be able to tie up there and walk in for lunch. Mel Miller will oversee the seafood market, and boaters will be able to order steamed shrimp or other seafood, as well as ice, from their boats and pick it up at the market. The Shrimp Boat features an expo kitchen, open to view for customers entering the restaurant, as well as a sushi bar.
The Shrimp Boat is approximately 10 miles from our Panama City Beach Condo. If you are fishing with Captain James Pic, plan on the Shrimp Boat for lunch. Pic operates out of the dock next door.
