Tourists from all over are pouring into northwest Florida thanks to the new airport. And Southwest Airlines is excited about the new partnership.
People from all over the country flock to the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport for the very first time on Sunday. Southwest’s long anticipated debut is finally here and tickets are going fast.
Some Southwest fliers and employees know what they want to do upon arrival Tess Lampe from Baltimore says “…we’re gonna go to the beach and have a party, I think.” Shannon Ewing, a Southwest customer service agent, just moved here from up North. She gushes about “…the beaches are gorgeous! The white sand, the stingrays…you can actually see the stingrays. It’s great!”
But Bay County residents, me included, were excited to board one of the first planes out of the new airport as well. Business owners like Marc Nolan are looking forward to the economic boost “…it’s huge. It really is… So many people have wanted to come to Bay County, but our air service has really been horrible. So this is going to open up so many more horizons for us.”
While residents like Karlo DeScalzo are just happy about the new airline options “I wanted to give southwest a try and so far I love it.”
The flight goes smoothly with no turbulence as demonstrated by perfectly still drinks. But I wasn’t prepared for the excited visitors boarding the flight to Panama City Beach. Young and old were ready for white sand and crystal clear surf.
Tim and Mary Grace Edwards are newly married just yesterday. They hope to “…go to the beach…hopefully get some deep sea fishing in…”
Now we’re on the flight from Nashville back to Panama City and everyone here is really excited about coming to the brand new airport. We’re about 200 miles away from Panama City right now and we’re just happy and excited about the flight and we’ll be there in just a few minutes.
All that’s left are a few soft drinks and then the customers are off to enjoy all that the world’ most beautiful beaches have to offer.
Many pilots are either from Bay or Walton County or have family ties here. So Southwest is here to stay.
ECP is only 11.5 miles from our Panama City Beach Condos for rent at Celadon Beach Resort http://www.bestpanamacitybeachcondo.com a quick cab ride to get to the beach from ECP.
We were on the flight from Nashville to Panama City Beach with Allyson. The flight departed at 12:45PM and we had our toes in the sand at Celadon Beach Resort at 2:30PM! Now that is hard to beat.
